K-5 classroom assignments will be posted in the front entrance window on July 30 after 12:00 p.m. Middle school students will be listed by the homeroom/advisory teacher.
Middle school schedules will be ready for pick-up on July 30 and August 2 from 2:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. Students in grades 3-8 may also purchase their planner ($5.00); 6-8 students will need to pay for a hall/PE locker ($10.00) at this time. The locker rental fee covers the cost of the annual maintenance, i.e. reprogramming combinations.
Please remember to mark your calendar for our Back-to-School Orientation on August 5, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. You will have an opportunity to meet your child's teacher(s) and receive a brief overview of grade level procedures and expectations. I will also send an electronic "evite" invitation to get an estimate of how many families plan on attending.
I have asked that a representative from the Extended Day Program attend the Orientation to enroll any families who may be interested in their services.
Bus routes should be available at the Orientation. I requested these last week from Durham Bus Services and I was informed that the routes should be ready this week. Hopefully, I will definitely have these before August 5th.
Our school is participating in the "Tools for Schools" program sponsored by Channel 19 and Jerry Damson Honda/Acura. I'm not sure what supplies our school will receive, but please let me know if you need any of the basic school supplies. I also have some "Tools for Schools" backpacks from last year's distribution. I anticipate that we will receive some additional ones this year.
If you have any specific questions that I haven't answered, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail. I think all the essential information has been addressed to ensure a smooth opening of school! I am so EXCITED!
Thanks,
Tammy Summerville
